EXPLORATORY TAJIKISTAN EXPEDITION

Exclusive! 4 Corners Whitewater wants to be the first rafting company to bring clients to Tajikistan and we want you to be a part of it. This is an exploratory trip of some of the most challenging whitewater anywhere. We are waiting until the lowest water levels from these glacier fed rivers.

We will paddle at least one river and hopefully two. One objective is the rivers Upper Matcha. This trip is 82km long on class IV+ whitewater. Another possibility is the river Sorbo, a beautiful class IV to V trip. If the group is very experienced and strong we can tackle the river Yagnob, a class V river with multiple portages in a deep, sheer-walled gorge.

This is an exploratory trip because none of our staff have not done it yet! If you would like to participate in the essence of river exploration, scouting, portaging and dealing with the challenges of an unknown river, please contact us about this unique opportunity.

Trip participants must be 18 or older, in superb physical condition and should have at minimum class IV paddling experience. You should be both mentally and physically tough, and never panic. We will be relying on you as much as you rely on us. You must apply and be accepted to go on this expedition. We will require a minimum of 6 participants and a maximum of 10.

SAMPLE ITINERARY

Day 1 Arrive in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. Meet our local contact who will help us with accommodations and transportation.

Day 2 Explore Dushanbe, purchase supplies and study the maps.

Day 3 Travel East to the Sorbo River. Rig boats. Begin floating.

Day 4 We tackle several rapids such as Sevenard, Crocodiles, and Sorbo Cascade (named by the Russians explorers who first ran this river).

Day 5 Take out, move on to the next river Yagnob or Matcha.

Day 6 Rig and prepare for the river.

Day 7 Spend the next several days rafting, scouting and portaging rapids.

Day 12 Return to Dushanbe.

INCLUDES

Meals, accommodations in Dushanbe, transportation from Dushanbe, equipment. Accommodations are double occupancy. Food is from local restaurants or markets. This trip can be customized to the desires and skill level of the group, including other rivers and activites.
